CAI program growth in Beloit in recent years has resulted in operating challenges and created a need to find a more suitable location for our Beloit operations. Demand for programs is substantial, with waiting lists varying from 30 on the low end to several hundred. Our ability to ramp up or modify programming to meet demand is limited and one factor contributing to the limitation is the availability of programming space.
While CAI continues to work diligently to build a strong portfolio of programs targeted to address these needs, we do not have sufficient program capacity to meet the growing demands for service. One of our most critical needs is adequate space.
Current CAI programs, Helping Urban Beloit (HUB), Fatherhood and Fresh Start will move from their current facilities and relocate at the Eclipse Center. CAI will also house additional employment and training services. Satellite locations of CAI Housing and Energy Programs and First Choice Women’s Health Center will operate in the space as well. The new facility will include a computer resource room, a child care area and a workshop for Beloit Fresh Start Youth and other program participants to hone their skills under staff supervision.
The Pathways Center will enable CAI to cultivate and strengthen existing programs and partnerships and to expand and grow to better meet the needs of local citizens. Our goal is to create a space where people can “work and learn their way out of poverty” and to create a visible space that reinforces our commitment to the Stateline area and our intent to be a strong and effective local partner.
