ARRA Beloit Fresh Start

GOAL: The Beloit Fresh Start program provides youth aged 18-24 who have dropped out of school with the opportunity to secure their diplomas and acquire construction skills that lead to employment. The hands-on construction skill training rehabilitates sub-standard housing into properties taht will be owner occupied, transforming Beloit's Merrill neighborhood in the process.

Program Milestones

Goal for July 2009-June 2010 enrollment of 20 participants has been met. All youth are high school dropouts and all received entry assessment using Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). 100% of current participants have also completed a 10 hour Occupation Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) certification course.   Participants were active  in education, life skills and job skill training activities. CPR and First Aid training was provided to all members.
