AWARE in Evansville works to assist the community in meeting the needs of low income residents in the Evansville area.  AWARE partners with community volunteers and organizations to provide services including; the Snackpacker Food Program for low-income students, numerous drives benefiting the local food pantry, holiday distributions and Koats for Kids.

Enrolling NOW!   Back Pack Program

Evansville Snackpackers
Children receive backpacks filled with free nutritious foods for breakfast andlunch on the days school is not in session. Available to the children in the free and reduced lunch program as well as the Early Childhood classes.

A variety of colored backpacks are used. A numbered system is used to protect the confidentiality of students. 

The food can be packed in a lunch if the children go to day care or eaten at home on the days off. Food can be included for siblings as well.

Distribution will begin in October
(sign-up through the school office or AWARE)

Peanut butter * Juice * Granola Bars
Spaghetti & Meatballs * Fruit cup * Stew
Cereal * Crackers * Shelf-stable milk
Items may vary each month

Refuse 2 Bruise Second-Year Program In Evansville

Although many people are involved in abusive relationships, a growing number of those people are teenagers.

 

Health officials said that it's estimated that one in three teens involved in relationships are involved in abusive relationships, whether that be verbal, emotional, physical or sexual. While both boys and girls can be victimized, for girls the abuse tends to be longer-lived, as studies show that 80 percent of girls stay in relationships after the first incident of violence, officials said.
