Wisconsin Workers Win (W3)

W3 is a new, innovative training program developed by the Department of Workforce Development and implemented in June 2012. Community Action was selected for this one year pilot effort to assist individuals who have recently lost employment to return to work. There are three pilots: Milwaukee, Southeast Wisconsin, and Southwest Wisconsin. Community Action is the lead in Southwest Wisconsin and through the W3 Coordinator will assist Rock County claimants and we are partnering with the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board who will provide the services to Grant, Green, Iowa, Lafayette, and Richland Counties.
The program allows Unemployment Insurance (UI) claimants the ability to participate if certain criteria are met and must be within the first 20 weeks of receiving unemployment (initial claim after April 1, 2012). Participants must maintain eligibility with Unemployment Insurance during entire time with the W3 Program.
Community Action, Inc. will assess the work readiness of the applicant, utilizing tools currently implemented with our other employment and training programs to address skill sets and the work readiness of each applicant.
- Participants receive 6 weeks, up to 24 hours per week of on the job training with local employers with the intent of full-time employment with that employer.
- Participants may also receive a $75 weekly stipend while training to offset any other costs. We will be serving 100 individuals throughout the six county area from June 2012 to May 2013.
