Community Action, Inc. of Rock and Walworth Counties is pleased to announce that this spring the Women’s Fund of the Stateline Community Foundation is again supporting its preventative mentoring program for teen women, Magnify Your Mind, with a $3,500 grant.

Community Action staff—lead by Nicole Pfundheller—formed the program to mentor, teach, and encourage teenage women at Beloit Memorial High School. The Women’s Fund has been a key supporter of the program since its inception in the spring of 2015.
Program participants receive education in financial literacy, budgeting, health, and nutrition, all aimed at reinforcing positive decision-making throughout all aspects of their lives. Additional programming focuses on driver’s education and leadership development, which will include volunteer opportunities, employment coaching, and college tours.

“Because of the Women Fund’s continued support, both in terms of resources and volunteer hours, our mentoring program for young women was able to exceed its goals in its first year,” says Lynn Vollbrecht, Community Action’s development manager. “To a person, every young woman in the program increased her GPA, and thanks to the Women’s Fund and the work of our tireless volunteers, we were able to serve more women than we initially anticipated. We couldn’t make these tangible outcomes a reality without our community’s support, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
